Cardiology (Heart) - FFR (Fractional Flow Reserve)
Fractional flow reserve (FFR) is a technique used in coronary catheterization to measure pressure differences across a coronary artery stenosis (narrowing, usually due to atherosclerosis) to determine the likelihood that the stenosis impedes oxygen delivery to the heart muscle (myocardial ischemia). Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) is a procedure used to measure blood pressure and flow through a specific part of a coronary artery. We perform it at the time of a coronary angiogram, to assess whether or not to perform angioplasty and stenting on mid-size blockages.
